OWNER BLAMES A CAT.
' "I always left a lamp burning in the shop in oaso of burglars. ~ A cat must have knocked 'it over and started the fire. All the burglars in creation can enter the shop now before I will leave, another light,burning;" . -..., George Grant, owner of a shop destroyed iby fire at Wooloowin. on June 24, made this statement to the Brisbane Court ; last week. :He , said, it was ; his usual , practice to leave a small kerosene lamp alight in the shop at night to allow, the constable to see through the establishment. ;■•" ' * ' ' '-/':■' 5 - On the morning of # the fire, a cat followed him through to the bulk store. It was his opinion' now that the cat had knocked the lamp over and started the fire. • ' , ■ Sergeant O'Connor, of the Windsor police station, stated that the charred body of a cat had been ; found in the debris.
