FISH MARKET BARE.
BAD TRAWLING WEATHER.
BETTER CATCHES EXPECTED
The supply of fish in Auckland this week has been very meagre. The' easterly weather, which, prevailed in' the early part of the week, considerably hampered trawling operations. As a number of the trawlers are : due back • early next week it is anticipated that supplies. will then become normal.
Whitebait has been in short V supply, due to the flooded state of the • Waikato River. As soon as the flood waters recede it is expected that better supplies will be forthcoming. ... The Countess, which secured a splendid haul of hnpuka last week, is still : engaged in hand-line trawling off the Northern Coast, and is expected back shortly with another large catch. .-_ •■ v As soon as the weather moderates sufficiently it is possible that trawling will be resumed on the West Coast, previous experiences there having been • encouraging. ■ „
