THE PRICE OF IMPORTS. "[BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] WELLINGTON, Friday. 1 Bran and pollard are reported to .be in very short supply in ' New Zealand. Reports from Victoria, however, ehow that supplies arc abundant there, and that the market has been induced to operate more freely by a reduction of 10s per ton. Offers have been received in Wellington to-day of bran and pollard at £7 10s pot ton f.o.b. Melbousaw. Assuming permission to import could bo obtained this would coat £12 to £13 per ton to land in-Wellington, but the demand for bran and rollara in New Zealand ie reported to be so great and the supply bo short that users would be willing .to pay the extra price for tho imported article.
