AUCKLAND LICENSES INCREASE.
Tho increasing activity ■in the motor world as It affects Auckland is well exemplified in a table of comparisons presented to tho City Council at its last meeting. In this report tho city traffio inspector, Mr. G. ft Hogan, stated that f,73 motor -car licenses were Issued during the last quarter (April, May and June), ii 3 compared with 389 during the corresponding quarter last year., Tho licenses for motor-cycle* numbered 154 during last quarter, and 122 for the-; corresponding period of last year. Equally striking figures are those in connection with tho issue of certificates of competency for drivers of motor vehicles! These show !.hat .555 certificates wore issued dtjirig tho past quarter, as contrasted with 387 during the corresponding,quarter of 19'&. Similarly, the licenses for heavy traffic have increased from 93 during last year s period to 137 during the period under revieAV this year.
