HOLIDAY FOR THE MEN.
[BY TELEGRAPH.—SPECIAL REPORTER.} WELLINGTON. Friday. ; In his replies to questions by members the Hon. J. G. Coates lives Up -to his reputation for direct answers. Mr. J. OTBrier' (Westland) _ asked him in the House of Representatives to-day wEether, in view of the opening of the Otira tunnel on' August 4, he would arrange (1) for the. men to be paid on August 3; (2) that they should t have a day off in celebration of the opening day on full pay; (3) that thity should be invited to bo present at the opeumg. " My answer to each question is in the affirmative," said Mr. Coates. " I will be very glad to give the men every opportunity of being present."
