WATER CHARGES REDUCED.

DECISION AT DEVONPORT.

The water changes at Devonport are to be reduced, the Borough Council on Wednesday evening deciding on this course. In accordance with notice Mr. A. V. Fraer moved that the water charges should be reduced from Is 6d to Is 3d.

Mr. Mays said there was something "rotten" when they wero asked to pay twice as much as the Takapuna ratepayers. ;.', ; Mr. Hislop moved that the matter bo deferred for six months.

The Mayor, Mr. T. Lamont, said no one was more keen on reducing the rates than he, but they, must have revenue to meet the expenses.
