OTAHUHU BOROUGH COUNCIL

The Otahuhu Borough Council met the other evening, the Mayor, Mr. R. B. Todd, presiding. There were also present Messrs. Brady, . Clements, Hall, .N'icholls, Phillips. Shepherd, Whiteley, and Wilson. A deputation of residents on the Hokonui Estate presented a petition with regard to the state of the footpaths on the Hokonui Estate and asked for an additional street lamp. The Mayor said the footpaths would be inspected and attended to. Messrs. E. Logan and R. Miller wrote with regard to the entrance to their respective properties, 'the matters were referred to the Works Committee for report. The Auckland Automobile Association wrote asking the council to put the road between St. Ann's Bridge and Portage Road in repair. The clerk reported that he had already replied that the section of the road in question was in the Mount Wellington road district. The Mayor referred to the fact that many motorists "scorched"' through the borough on Sundays to the danger of women and children.

The repairs to the footpath on the eastern side of Great South Road from Huia Road to Portage Road, recommended by the Works Committee, were authorised.
