WELLINGTON. Monday.
In the Grey River Argus, a Labour daily published at Greymouth, appears the "statement' that the Stockon coal mine seems to be enjoying a period of prosperity lately owing to the miners' dispute in Australia, and hope is expressed that the Alliance of Labour will make sure that no coal leaves New Zealand to defeat the aims of the Australian miners. When" the. statement was brought under the notice of the secretary of the Miners Federation; Mr. P. O'Rourke, he said it was not to be taken seriously. The New South Wales miners had not applied to the miners of New Zealand for assistance in any shape or form. When they want help they will ask for it,' commented Mr. O'Rourke, who added that the Alliance of Labour had not discussed ■ the Australian trouble.
