— » THE ELECTRICITY SCHEME. ACCEPTANCE OF TENDER. .' At the first meeting of the newly-elected Tamaki West - Road Board there were present : Messrs. M. G. Mc Arthur, F. ft. Easkett, L. J. Keys, G. Nevill, and A. T. Pycroft. Mr. McArthur was elected chairman for the ensuing year. The tender of Messrs. J. Burns and Co. for the. supply and erection of the machinery for the electric light extension scheme was accepted. It is hoped that the new plant will be in working order by the end of December, when power will be available during the whole of the 24 hours. Further street lighting will then be installed. Following on the recently-carried road loan, the following contracts have been let:—(1)' Improvements on the main road between St. Heliers Bay and Kohimarama and improvements to the footpaths at St. Heliers Bay and Kohimarama, £622; (2) - formation and metalling Bay View Road, John Street, Union Edward Street, £990; (3) formation and metalling Yattenden and Sylvia Roads and. Wilson Street, £1170; (4) re-forming and metalling of Taylor Avenue. £1187 ; (5) formation and metalling Vine !?lreet, Knotlingly Road, Willow Street, and a portion of the Parade, £899; (6) formation and metalling footpaths at St. Heliers Bay and KohimaTama schools, £156. v Mr. F. E. Powell, drainage engineer, reported that he is pushing on the necessary preliminary woik in connection with the drainage of St. Heliers and. Kohimarama, and hoprs to.be in a position to call for tenders for a 'portion of the work at an early date. : ;:. , ' t ■':■. ■';....-. ~ Permits were granted during the past fortnight for the' erection of 11 dwellings and two shops to the value of £7940. ;
