SECRET OF SUCCESS.
It is the ambition of the majority of girls who take up a career to succeed in it. That trite saying: "There is always room at the top," continues, however, to be perfectly true,; showing that success is the exception rather than the rule. Lack of interest, impatience, discouragement, all help to , put thoughts of success aside, and cause many a girl; to fall into a groove of mediocrity from which she never raises 'herself. -In various careers different qualfications are essential to success, but it is necessary for a girl to possess' common-sense, patience, perseverance, a well-balanced mind, self-confidence and enthusiasm in order to rise above the average in i whatever profession or business "she may have adopted. The professional woman, to.be successful, needs to cultivate in particular tact, a good memory, a willing disposition, thoroughness and amiability, I while the business woman requires initiative, self-control, good judgment and the ability to make important decisions quickly. A girl who has entered upon a career and does not seem.to be taking the shortest road to success should mentally examine herself and see in what, qualifications she is lacking. Once she realises what these are it rests with herself to make the effort to cultivate them. Some girls may maintain that those who are particularly brilliant are the women who have the most chance of success, but this is not necessarily . so. Success is ' often nothing more than the realisation; of opportunities and the grasping of them; and every girl should be awake to such possibilities. The. secrets of success may be revealed 'to any ; girl who has the * sincere desire to v " make 'good," and who takes the trouble .to , discover and rectify whatever difficulties are holding j her back.
