SOVIET WAR ON RELIGION.
EXTENSION TO GEORGIA. CHURCHES TURNED INTO CLUBS. Times. BERLIN, May 1. A Bolshevik anti-Church campaign is being carried out in Georgia. The head of the Catholic Church has been imprisoned, together with 80 or 90 per cent. of the entire priesthood in the province. Armed agents of the Cheka (secret police) scoured the whole country, requisitioning church treasures, and the churches were turned into Communist clubs, despite the opposition of the population.
