PROGRESS AT LAUSANNE.
TURKS GAIN A POINT. JURIDICAL GUARANTEES. FIRM STAND BY ALLIES. Bv Telegraph— Association—Copyright. (Received 8.5 p.m.) A. and N.Z. LAUSANNE, May 1. At the Near East Conference to-day the Turks asked that they might have power to limit the number of foreigners entering and practising professions in Turkey, such as lawyers and doctors. The point was conceded by the Allies on condition that all acquired rights would be preserved. The Turks attempted to secure the suppression of the article in the draft treaty of peace, in which Turkey engages to assure to foreigners adequate justice in the Turkish Courts. The Allies refused to entertain the proposition. Ismet Pasha thought that he could agree to the article provided that it was differently drafted.
