WHOLESALE AND RETAIL.
FALL OF TWOPENCE PER LB.
NEW RATES IN FORCE TO-DAY
A reduction of twopence per pound in the retail price of butter is announced to take effect from to-day. This will mean that the retail price of superfine quality factory butter will be Is 9d' per lb., medium quality Is Bd, and lower i grade Is 7d. These , prices, as before, will be subject to an additional penny per pound for booking. The prices ruling until yesterday were Is lid, Is lOd and Is 9d for the several qualities mentioned, with one penny for booking, which made the booked price for superfine 2s . per pound. The reductions announced are consequent on a notification by the dairy companies that the wholesale price is to be reduced by twopence to-day. The wholesale price of butter was reduced in Wellington early last week by one penny per pound, making the second drop of one penny within two weeks. At latest advices the retail price for standard brands of the choicest quality in Wellington was Is 9d. The same reduction applies in the Waikato. :', REDUCTION IN THE SOUTH. . WHOLESALE Is 7d PER.
