THE HERRI BEQUEST.

[B* TKLEGBAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDED?.] ' TAUIUNGA, : Tuesday. : The annual meeting of householders in the-Tauranga School district j was held last night. The chairman reported , that /he had received the following "nominations for the committee for the ensuing year:—• Messrs. B. P. Andrews, C. Lowe, J. Neal, A. J. Withy, 0. J. Kirk, A. S. Burgess, F. N. Christian, Rev. U. A. McCutcheon, and Major G. Moore. As the number of nominations did not exceed the number of vacancies to bo filled: the chairman declared the candidates named to be elected. At a meeting of the committee held after the annual meeting Mr. Andrews was ie elected chairman and Major Moore secretary. . - A letter was read from the director of Technical Education at Auckland suggesting that the bequest of the late Sir William Hemes of £1000 to the town of Tauranga be offered toward a building fund for a Technical High School to be called the Hemes Memorial Technical High School. There is a very suitable site .on the northern end of the town peninsula for such a school. The new building is estimated to cost at least ; £10,000. It was resolved that the coinmittee approve of the suggestion and appoint a sub-committee to wait on the borough council and ask for its approval.
