THE WAITEMATA COUNCIL.

SEVERAL SEATS NOT CONTESTED.

Nominations closed yesterday for the triennial elections of the Waitemata County Council. An election will take place on May 9. The following have been returned unopposed.—Captain P. Theet (Waitemata Riding), Messrs. A. M. Laing (Titinfngi Riding), H. Day (Birkenhead Riding), A. E. Diprose (Kaukapakapa Riding), R. Glasgow (Kumeu Riding), F. Povnton (Pnkeatua Ridng), W. Oliphant (Waipareira Riding). Elections will be necessary in the following ridings, where the candidates nominated exceed the number of vacancies :— Wainui Riding: Messrs. A. J. Hatfield and T. M. Burns. Takapuna Riding A Messrs. H. Hockin and G. O'Hialloran. Mairetahi Riding: Messrs. J. Mackie and J. Mc.Leod. Waitakere Riding : Messrs. F. W. Grigg and A. R. Sinton. MANUKAU COUNTY COUNCIL, ELECTION IN EACH RIDING. An election will be necessary in each riding of the Manukau County, and this will be held on May 9. One seat is vacant in each of the ridings except Wairoa, where the return of two Candidates is necessary. The nominations are as follows Manpero Riding: Messrs. S. W. House and W. W. Massev. Pakuranga Riding : Messrs. H. Beckett and T. Speechraay. Papakura Riding: Messss J. M. Davies and H. Harris. Papatoetoa Riding : Messrs. ,K. Ross and F. M. Waters. Turanpa Riding. Messrs F. H. Brownhill and F. Granger. Wairoa Riding : Messrs. A. D. Bell, F. Kearsley, J. Luke and G. HI Morrison. FRANKLIN COUNTY.
