AREA FOR CHILDREN.
REMUERA EFFORT PRAISED.
The effort of / Remuera . residents to secure an area of 2£ acres of land adjoining the school property as a recreation ground for the children of the district is warmly commended by Dr. Truby King in a letter to Mr. A. J. Hutchinson, secretary to the committee appointed in connection with the matter. In forwarding a cheque for £5 5s Dr. King stated : — " You know how strongly I feel that in securing a good exercise and recreation ground for the present and .future children before it is too late you i are conferring an inestimable boon, not only on the children of Remuera of to-day, but on the endless procession of boys and girls, .the men arid women of the future., Provision for daily outdoor exercise, ; swimming, and' other sports is' the first and most urgent need of school life, especially in Auckland, and 'it: supplies the broad highways to health, happiness, and' success through life. I earnestly hope; the people of Remuera will immediately and ar-seeingly' subscribe all you- need. Do not falter. 'Carry on your good work." -\"
