TO-DAY'S FORECAST. ■■'■; GOVERNMENT REPORT. The Government meteorologist reported last night as follows:—"Strong easterlies northward of Kawhia and Gisborne, moderate and increasing north-east to south-east winds elsewhere. Weather cloudy and unsettled rain probable generally, and heavy rain in Northern and East Coast districts of the North Island. The barometer is unsteady, with a falling tendency." HERALD SPECIAL FORECAST. The following weather forecast for 48 hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied to us by Mr. H. M. Vincent last evening:—Further heavy rain, with strong to gale, easterly winds, changing by north to west, is probable in Auckland and northern districts over Saturday, but improving on Sunday, though still unsettled. Severe thunderstorms are also likely in various localities. The weather will become unsettled now in southern districts, with freshening northerly winds prevailing. Seas heavy. RAINFALL RECORD.
