CATTLE FOR OVERSEAS.
METHODS OF LOADING. BETTER FACILITIES NEEDED Suggestions for an alteration to railway cattle trucks to enable cattle to be loaded direct from the trucks to the vessels by which they are to be consigned were discussed yesterday at a meeting of, the Auckland and suburban ' branch of the Farmers' Union. A letter from the district traffic manager of railways stated that the alteration of cattle waggons as suggested would entail an expenditure which the present traffic did nob justify. The matter of a special pen to receive the animals at' the ship's side was being investigated, and particulars would ba supplied . later... The chairman, Mr. Hodge, said representations on the matter had been made to the Harbour Board, and pending further investigations nothing could be done. It was essential that the excessive handling of cattle for shipment should be eliminated, and further efforts would be made to meet the position. .
