EASTER HOLIDAYS.

YESTERDAY'S ATTRACTIONS.

LARGELY-ATTENDED FIXTURES.

The uncertainty of the weather early yesterday morning, following Sunday's downpour, to some extent spoiled Easter Monday for a large number of holidaymakers who had been looking forward to sea excursions and other outdoor attractions. After an uncertain night the weather began to break about eight o'clock, but the sky was overcast for some time afterward, and many holiday trips wore therefore abandoned. The spirit of optimism prevailed in a great many other cases, however, and there was a good attendance at all the holiday sports fixtures and other gatherings. The weather Cleared up beautifully a little later in the morning, and sunshine and blue sides tempted many stay-at-homes to belated holiday-making. > As usual, a very large number of people attended the second day of the Auckland Racing Club's meeting at EUerslio, trains, trams, and motor-vehicles being crowded with eager race-goers. Various sporting tournaments were continued. The Auckland Golf Club's tourney was continued at Middleraore, and the Easter tournament of the Auckland Bowling Centre, and the tennis and cricket matches also proved strong attractions, while the sports gathering at Papakura was attended by several hundred spectators. • Fortunately, the weather remained fine all day in the city, although there were several sharp showers in the , suburban districts during the afternoon. The skies cleared toward the close of the day, however, and a fine trip home concluded the Easter holiday for many thousands of holiday-makers.
