SWEPT AWAY IN FLOOD.
MAN DROWNED IN RAKAIA. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] • CHEISTCHURCH, Monday/ Frederick George Howatson lost his life crossing the Rakaia River in a gig during high flood, six miles from Southbridge station. Horse and gig were washed away. Neal Monro, Howatson's companion, swam ashore. Howatson's body has not been, recovered.
