FOX ATTACKS A BOY.

FIERCE STRUGGLE IN SNOW.

ANIMAL KILLED WITH SKI.

A. and N.Z. GENEVA, March 22. Frederick Raymond, aged 16, when ski-ing home at twilight, had a remarkable life and struggle with a halffamished fox, which suddenly dashed out of a pine forest. Raymond frustrated the fox's attempt to reach his throat, but the animal savagely bit and scratched his legs. Suddenly boy and fox fell together in a patch of deep snow, whereupon the fox renewed its efforts to reach a vital part. It drove its teeth into the boy's neck, and the boy fought desperately with his hands. Then, luckily, he detached one of his skip, with which he belaboured the fox till it was dead. He dragged the fox's body to Sentier, whence Raymond was immediately removed to the Pasteur Institute, This is the first case recorded of a fox attacking a skier.
