WAIKUMETE-WEST COAST ROAD.
Sir,lt was. with interest that I read in Saturday's issue of , the Herald the brief report of the Waitemata Council's i engineer in connection with the metalling :; of certain roads in the county. Among several mentioned, the Waikumete-West Coast Road wan reported to be completed, ' and, having: just recently "travelled : over •; this particular road, I wish to state that such is not the case. Many miles axe still in a • clay, primitive state, while heavy ruts and wash-outs are frequent. -In winter timeand ; also during the wet - periods of summer weather—many places on the road are a ■ quagmire, making 'it almost impossible to get through. Such ' a report as; published conveys a wrong impression to those who are not aware of the prevailing . conditions. It is, about * time the " County Council shouldered the responsibility of completing that which they' consider has already been done. West Coast. , J.B.H.
