STOCKS AND SHARES.
A fair arflount of business was transacted on the Auckland sharemarket yesterday. In Government securities, War Loans, 1938, changed hands at £97, and the 1939 issue at £96 15s. New Zealand Inscribed Stock, 1938, sold at £97, with further buyers at same price. Soldiers' Loan bonds were offered at £101, buyers £100. Inscribed stock in the same loan had sellers at £100 10s (5£ per cent.) and £97 10s (51 per cent.). In debenture stocks New Zealand Sheepfarmers were done at £100 10s. In banks Nationals had sale at £6 8s 6d, late sellers asking £6 10s. New Zealands sold at 575, more being offered at that figure, buyers 56s 9d. Unions of Australia changed hands at £l 4 2s 6d, with further sellers at the same price, buyers £14. Australasias (ex div.) were sought at £12 16s. In insurances Nationals still had demand at 745, and Standards were looked for at 34s 6d, without sellers. New Zealands at 28s 6d w*re wanted at 28s 3d. South British were on offer at 38s. In gas Aucklands (paid up) changed hands at 25s 9d. In micella lines Wilsons Cements were disposed of at 24s 3d. In mining Waihis were held at 28s 6d, buyers 27s 6d. Grand Junctions cold at 8s 2d, late sellers 8s > 6d, and no further buyers. Moanataiaris were offered at 3s 4d, buyers 3s 2d.
