ATTRACTIVE PRIZE-LIST.

The proprietors of the Auckland; Weekly News have much pleasure in an-« nouncing their Twentieth Photographic , Competition. The sum of £38 is offered under conditions which provide for payment for all entries published—with theexception of . prize-winning photographs— at the rate of 4s each for whole-plate size,; and 3s each for half-plate size and less. The object of these competitions is to en* courage both professional and amateur photographers in the production of the, kind of pictures required by modern journalism. ' All who possess cameras have an excel-, lent chance to win a prize. The competition is advertised early so that those desiring to enter will have the benefit of the summer season and the Easter holidays in which to obtain good picture®. The closing date is April 30 next. 3 The following are the various classes. and the amount of prizes offered:— f; I.—A New- Zealand Landscape (with or without figure). First prize, £3; second prize, £1' 10*. .a; 2.— New Zealand Seascape (with or; without figure. First prize, £3 ;> second prize, £1 10s. 3.New. Zealand Adult Figure • Study (European or Maori). Exhibits under Class 7 can 5 also be entered in the various classes previously specified. The number of pictures'! entered , by each exhibitor, to total .. at least six. Competitors should remember ; that small views, although allowed to compete, are not so suitable for reproduction of halfplates or full-plates. All pictures entered lin the competition remain the property of the proprietors until sucn . times as they are published. Good typical pictures of general interest are preferable* to those of merely' local interest. ■ In sending in phograpbsj -prints J should f be sent in flat if possible. Particulars of the subject and the name and address of the competitor must '- be written on the -'i back of every print in pencil, without in any way damaging it. All photographs must be addressed to the " Competition . . Editor " of the Auckland Wbbkl* / News, and the class for which 'it is entered should be clearly marked both onback of the photograph as well as on the outside of the packet.
