PROTECTING THE INDUSTRY.

[by TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] TAURANGA Thursday. A deputation from the Tauranga Citrus and Fruitgrowers' Association waited on the Prime Minister to-day. Measures for the advancement of the lemon-growing industry in New Zealand were placed before Mr. Massey. It was stated that although Id per pound duty had been placed on imported lemons, there was no duty on lemon pulp, which was being imported still for making lemon squash, etc. Further, lemon peel was still on the free list, although peel was being manufactured in Auckland very successfully. Mr. Massey promised to go into the. matter on his return to Wellington.
