NEAR ELECTROCUTION.
FLAME SHOOTS FROM BODY.
ENGINEER'S NARROW ESCAPE
[BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] CAMBRIDGE. Tuesday. Mr. H. C. Oaten, engineer to the Cambridge Electric Power Board, figured in an accident yesterday which almost cost him his life. Mr. Oaten was engaged in making some slight alteration at the Cambridge sub-station. While sitting on' an iron angle Bft. from the floor and leaning over, he touched a high tension 3000 volt, wire, his finger receiving a terrfiic shock. The current passed through the body, the completed circuit coming cut at his leg astride the iron angle, a flame shooting up into the air. Fortunately two electricians who were with Mr. Oaten promptly dragged him down from hia perilous position Mr. Oaten sprained his wrist, received minor bruises, and bled freely from the nose. He did not lose consciousness. He received medical attention, and has made a good recovery. The finger that touched the wire was burned.
