NORTHCOTE AFFAIRS.
The Northcot©»Bdrough Council met last evening. . The Mayor, Mr. W. E. Richardson, presided, and Messrs. J. 15. Tonar, A. Parrish,- A. Hurley, W. H. Barnes, A. W. Smith. 0. R. Brinsden, W. C. Smith and W. K. A. Stewart were also present. It was reported that 80 chains of 6in. wooden water mains had been laid across Kauri Glen Gully, completing the extension of the reticulation for increasing the water pressure on the higher levels. The town clerk intimated that the necessary Order-in Council having been Gazetted, it was anticipated that £11,500 of the £26,500 drainage loan, and also the £5250 waterworks extension loan, would be available by the end of the week. The increase in the unimproved value was reported by the town clerk to be £89,562; or 50.6 per cent., and the capital value £174,582, or 52.88 per cent. These figures were subject to revision of the Assessment Court, if any objections were lodged by next Tuesday. . : -
