THE TRENTHAM TRAGEDY.
NO "RAGGING" IN FUTURE.
[BY TELEGRAPH. PRESS ASSOCIATION. ] WELLINGTON Monday The coroner at the inquest concerning the Trentham tragedy, found that Private Lean died from syncope following hemorrhage due to a bayonet wound accidentally received in a friendly scuffle. "I may add," he said, "that I have seen Colonel Burgess, who assures me that drastic steps will be taken, to see that no skylarking is tolerated in future."
MILITARY FUNERAL.
REPRESENTATIVE ATTENDANCE. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] DDKEDIN. Monday. The funeral of the late Private J. S. Lean, who was accidentally bayonetted at Trentham last Thursday night, took place at Port Chalmers this afternoon The gun carriage was covered with a mass of wreaths. Major Lampcn, officer commanding the Otago district, was presenL and the cadets and territorials paiticipated in the cortege. The Minister for Defence also was represented.
