SOUTH AMERICAN BOXER.
FIRPO DEFEATS BRENNAN.
Australia-, and N.Z. Cable Association. (Reed. 7.33 p.m.) NEW YORK. March 12. Firpo, the South American heavyweight, knocked out Dick Brennan in the twelfth round of a bout scheduled for 15 rounds. Firpo, although lie showed utter lack of ring craftsmanship, hit so hard and was able to take so much punishment himself that he wore Brennan down. Brennan was the cleverer fighter, but his sound defence was helpless before Firpo's onslaught of crushing blows to the body and head. Firpo led in every round but the tenth and eleventh. In the fourth, fifth and sixth rounds Brennan appeared worn out. It is now considered likely that Firpo will be matched against Dempsey after he has met the winner of the John-ston-Willard fight.
