FARMERS AND CANDIDATES.

QUESTIONS FORMULATED.

DECISION BY EXECUTIVE.

Questions from the farmers' point of view, arising In connection with the Tauwuaga election, were discussed last evening by the provincial executive of the Farmers' Union. Mr. A. A. Ross said that as there was no Country Party candidate in the field", he would move that they circularise their branches la the electorate and submit a series of points, so that these could be put to the candidates. They should advise their branches to use their discretion and vote for the candidate whose views ■were nearest to the programme of the union. The points to be suggested were— (Agricultural bank, economy in public services, taxation, co-operative marketing, producers' shipping line, immigration and land settlement. Mr. J. 8. Thompson, who seconded the motion, said the election would be a galloping one, and the candidates were not going to address the usual centres, but only the larger centres. He would suggest that the secretary write to each candidate and ask if he would make a statement in regard to those points, and that such statement should be published in the press. Alter discussion it was agreed that the executive approach the candidates, as suggested, and that the branches of the union be circularised.
