STOCKS AND SHARES.

Business was quiet on the Auckland sharemarket on Saturday. In Government securities, War Loans and Inscribed Stock were still in good demand at recent rates, but there were practically no sellers. Local bodies* and industrial debentures were also sought at late prices, but there were no transactions. In banks, Australasias were wanted at £13 7s 6d, sellers £13 12s. Nationals had buyers at £6 7s 6d, sellers asking £6 10s. New Zealands at 57s 3d were looked for at 56s 6d. Unions of Australia were in firmer inquiry at £14, sellers advancing to £14 4s. There were buyers of Commercials at 35s (ord.) and £6 15s (pref.). New South Wales were in demand at £37 10s, no sellers quoting. In insurances, Nationals had inquiry at 745, New Zealands were offered at 28s 3d, buyers 28s. South British at 38s were wanted at 375. There was sustained demand for other investment stocks and miscellaneous shares. In mining, Waihis bad buyers at 28s 6d, and sellers asked 295.
