;- PUBLIC NOTICES. 1- • > ACCIDENTS IL:L J£APPEN. Many poor people are ill, and require the services of a Trained Nurse, but have not fiie money to pay one. Others require to be taken to the Hospital. The care of the Sick and the Suffering is part of the work of the St. John Ambulance Association and Brigade. The Association has three fully-qualified Nurses working among the sick poor in the city and suburbs. The Brigade has three motor ambulances in commission, with an experienced driver, and First Aid Man available day or night. During 1922 the District Nurses paid 8718 visits to 762 patients, assisted doctors at 100 minor operations and attended to more than 260 out-patients at the Ambulance Station. By tho motor ambulances 251 patients were conveyed distances aggregating 2181 miles, and 17 returned soldiers a distance of 89 miles, and members of the Ambulance and Nursing Divisions of the Brigade attended to 2631 cases of accident or sudden illness. In some instances death would have ensued had the patients not received skilled attention pending the arrival of the doctor.
