ITALIANS IN GERMANY.

MALTREATED BY MOB. .STRONG NOTE FROM ROME. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association (Reed. 9.5 p.m.) ROME. March 8. The maltreatment of 17 Italian workmen and a priest, when en routo to Belgium, by a crowd at Rosenheim, in Upper Bavaria, who thought they were going to the Ruhr, has led to vigorous action by Signor Mussolini. He instructed the Italian Ambassador at Berlin and the Italian Consul at Munich strongly to protest against the attack, and demand exemplary punishment of the ringleaders, and compensation for the victims. Signor Mussolini's Note adds: " New Italy will not permit the maltreatment of her subjects but will defend them whatever be the consequences."
