At a meeting of the eseoutive of the Northland Trotting Club, held last week, the offer of Mr, James Hoey to place his gelding. Scrap o' Paper, at the disposal of the club, in order to act as pacemaker for Man-o-War in the exhibition trot, was accepted with thanks. It was resolved that the bracelet donated by Mr. J. Mauxer be awarded to the winner of the Maradsn Handicap. The Grounds Committee reported that the track at Kensington Park was being put in thorough order by means of top dressing and rolling. The whole of the arrangements in connection with the meeting were reported to be well forward. The Great Northern Trotting De?by, for which it is hardly necessary for me to say, the Auckland Trotting Club stands sponsor, is an event in which a lot of interest is centred, for with its £1000 prize it stands out as the richest race of its class in the Dominion. Nominations for the Great Northern Derby of 1924-25 close on April 6. It is laid down that of the stake of A'looo, the second horse will receive £200, and third horse £100, and £100 will go to the breeder of the winner, provided the horse is foaled in New Zealand, but if this condition is not fulfilled, the amount will go to the owner of the winner.

The Auokland-owned pacers, First Carbine and Moueymafc»r, who are to compete at Addiagtou at Eastor time, were sent South during the week, and are to join J. Bryce's team. Both horses were in capital fettle at the time of their departure, and the manner in which First Carbine shaped in a recent work-out with Man-o'-War indicates that he is returning to form, which should mean an early success for him.

The Auokland-owned aire Hal Boy was represented by a winner at the Nelson Jockey Club's recent meeting, when his three-year-old eon Holly Boy led the field home in the Matai Trot Handicap. Holly Boy, who was only recently purchased for 300gns, is regarded as a promising gelding, and this was his first effort in public. Bingen Wilkes, who for some was a. member of E. Groat's team, at Epsom, and who was returned to Christchuroh after the Otahuhu Summer Meeting, figured among the unplaced division at the Bank's Peninsula Racing Club's meeting on Saturday last. Grand Voyage. Stormy Voyage, Peter Volo and Wilton Wilkes were snipped back to Australia in charge of their trainer, P. Glasheen, by the Marama, whioh sailed for Sydney last night. Centreway was also sent back to the other side by the same steamer.

The next totalisator trotting meeting, which is to be held in the North Island is that of the Waimate Plains Trotting Club, which is fixed to take place at the Hawera race* course on Easter Monday, April 3.

After having been indulged in a spell the square-gaited gelding Delville Wood has resumed work again at Addington, under G. Reed's supervision, and is to be prepared for late autumn and winter racing. Mr. R. A. Smith arrived,, from America fast week and intends remaining in the Dominion till early in May. A brace of trotting events appear on the programme to be brought off at the Ngaruawahia Racing Club's meeting this afternoon. - f • AUCKLAND TROTTING CLUB. AUTUMN MEETING. The Auckland Trotting Club is in the field with a highly attractive programme for their autumn meeting, which is fixed to be held at Alexandra Park on Saturday and Wednesday. April 21 and 25, and with the prise money attached thereto running out to £6500. in addition to a 100-guinea gold cup (presented by Mr. L. A. Adams), there is good reason to anticipate that the response by horse owners will be such as to cause matters to carry the bright aspect for a re' cord gathering- to wind up the season at the Epßom grounds. The Campbell Handi- i cap and Prince of Wales Handicap, which hold the leading places on the respective days, each carry the fine stake of £1000. and in.each case provision is made for a fourth prize. Altogether, it can be said, the programme is in every way worthy of the A.T.C., and will serve to further advance the popularity of the Epsom ground as a rendezvous of sport. From the programme which will be found published in full in another column, it will he seen that nominations close for all events on Friday, April 8, w • p.m. -vi
