Friday.'-'<|§P The seizure of their instruments by ' the guarantors caused an abrupt terrain*- ''', tion to the practice of the Hamilton '"M Municipal Band last night. '■ t?M> The band was formed about 12 years *.-' ago, and owing to the personnel of the $M organisation changing the instruments |j|| came into the possession of the 16th, .■??$ Waikato, Regiment. An agitation for ■"■Tfg the return of the instruments to the,'>;ii§ Municipal Band led to Supreme Court M proceedings two years ago, when a deci- ;';s; sion was given in favour of the military ,"| authorities. Funds were then raised by .ip the Municipal Band to procure another hgm set of instruments. A sum of £600 was collected and instruments valued at •.; £1300 were purchased. Several citizens - guaranteed the balance. - '/f Difficulty was experienced in (finding A the £700 required. A recent carnivm *i| was not a financial success, and as tie y! vendors of the instruments were prissj- iI J ing the guarantors for the money the lat- 1 ter decided to seize the instruments. The • > bandsmen recognised the guarantors' position and surrendered the property. The question arises as to whether the townspeople will find the money to release the - m instrument*. ' *%i
