CHINESE LINE TO AUSTRALIA. It is learned on good authority that during the next few weeks will be seen the inauguration of a new steamship lervice from Hongkong to Australia. The initial steamer of the fine was advertised to leave Hongkong at the end of February or the beginning of March, for Australian ports. It is nnaerstood that the proposed service will be maintained by three steamers. Agents in Sydney have already been appointed for the new line. It is understood that the proposed service is controlled solely by Chinese capital. In view of the fact that this particular trade is very well catered for at present by the existing steamship services, is is difficult to understand the justification for the proposed new service. It is seemingly evident that other nations have faith in the potential wealth of Australia.
