DECREASE IN AMERICA. Such statistics as are available show a decrease in meat consumption of 251b. per person each year, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The department does not give the reasons for the decrease, for there are undoubtedly a number of contributing causes. The dairy interests advertis the food value and importance of milk and its products have caused c substantial increase in consumption. Through scientific investigations it ha* been found that milk is a protective food and that to provide a proper balanced ration the human diet should contain more dairy products It is held by those who have given this subject special attention, that for health and economy the American , people should consume at least one third more milk than they do at the present time.
