The Victorian Racing Club's Autumn Meeting will bo continued at Flemington to-day, when the Australian Cup will be brought up for decision. The field engaged in the long-distance handicap thia year is a neat deal below many previous years, summed up from a quality stand-point. For instance, only -five of the 16 horses engaged figure above 8.0. and six of the number are ranged tip below 7.0. Stare, who heads the list with 9.0, is a four-year-old horse by Earlston, end the fact that he was paid up for in preference to his stable mate, The Cypher, would appear to point to hie having convinced his trainer that he possesses the necessary ("lamina for a journey extending to two miles and * -quarter, which today's _ race calls for.
