■ v V • NEW PLYMOUTH CO ST. • FIRST DAY'S RESULTS. [BT TELBGnA'PH. ASSOCIATION.] NEW PLYMOUTH. Monday. ■ The band contest under the auspices of the North Island Bands Association opened here to-day. The competitors are: —A Grade: Auckland Artillery, ! Queen Alexandra (Wanganui), Woolston, Wellington Artillery, Palmers ton North Municipal, Auckland City, and Dannevirke Municipal. B Grade: ' 4th Wellingv ton Regimental Band (N.P.), and Ist Wellington Battalion Band. The bands marched through the town to a civic reception at the Park. Results: — Baritone Solo (own selection). —G. Cum--1 - mina (Wellington Artillery), 91 points, 1; A. A. McDonal (4th Wellington Regimental, N.P.), and R. Sinclair (Auckland Artillery), each 90, 2; J. Cosgrove (Palmeraton North Municipal), ' 89, 4. Also competed: R. Gray (Masterton Municipal Silvor Band), 80; B. Williams (Auckland City Band), 70. Bass Drum Solo.— Moss (Ist Wellington), 26 points, 1; F. Liley {New Plymouth), 25, 2; P. Kilrnartin (Palmerston). • 25, 3. Also competed: W. Horn (New Plymouth), 23. Side Drum Solo.—T. Gee (Auckland Artillery), 27 points, 1; J. Atkinson (Woolston), 26, 2; W. H. Carmichael (Palmerston), 25, 3. . Also competed: R. Richardson (Njw Plymouth), 22.
