COMPULSORY MARRIAGE
TURKISH LEGISLATION. WIDOWERS' ALTERNATIVE. (Received 8.5 p.m.) A. and N.Z. CONSTANTINOPLE, Feb. 25. The Religious Committee of the Angora Assembly approved, amid applause, a Bill to make compulsory for males to marry at the age of 25, and also for all couples to have a child every two years. Rich widowers over 50 must take a second wife or support orphans. The Bill provides thai, in families of three children, one child shall be exempted from military service.
