STOCKS AND SHARES.

The tone of the Auckland sharemarket remained unchanged yesterday. There was general inquiry for all classes of investment stocks. In Government securities the , 1938 War Loan had buyers at £97, sellers quoting £97 10s; 1938 Inscribed Stock, wanted at £97 2s 6d, were on offer at £97 10s. Soldiers' Loan Bonds were inquired for at £101, and Soldiers' Inscribed Stock at £100 12s 6d, without response from sellers. In banks, New Zealands, quoted at 57a 6d, had buyers at 563 9d. Nationals were wanted at £6 6s 6d, sellers quoting £6 7s. There were buyers for a number of other banking stocks, but sellers re frained from quoting. In insurances New Zealands changed hands at 27s 4d, late buyers offering 275, sellers 27s 9d. South British were quoted at 38s. In finance 'there was a sale of Dalgety and - Co. at Ql2 7s 6d, further buyers offering £12 2s 6d. sellers not quoting. In shipping, Northern Steamships changed hands : at 13s 6d, late buyers offering 13s 4d, sellers 13s 9d. In miscellaneous stocks business was done in Milne and Choyce debenture stock at 23s 3d, late buy-trs offering 235, sellers 23s 6d. In raining there were' transactions in Waihis at 30s 6d find 30m 3d, closing quotations being buyers 30s Id. sellers 30s 3d. A sale of Waihi Grand Junctions was made at 8s lid, other buyers offering 8s 9d, sellers 9s. ' Moanataiaris had buyers at 3s lid, late sellers quoting 4s 3d. .
