TRADE WITH AUSTRALIA.
PROPAGANDA AT HULL. Australian and N.Z.' Cabin Association. (Reed. 4.15 p.m.) * LONDON. Feb. 23. A delegation representative of the Australian fruit trade inspected the facilities for handling produce at Hall, and attended at.a joint meeting of the Chamber of Trade and the Chamber of Commerce, at which Mr. Austin Wilson delivered an address on direct trade between Australia and Hull. . . • Mr. C. E. D. . Meares said that Australians regarded trade within the Empire as more than a mere ideal, and was giving effect to it. He specially mentioned the standardisation of Australian first grade butter under one brand. He suggested the formation of a committee at Hull to encourage direct trading. Referring to decentralisation, he said that if Hull traders could show by their business actions and preferential buying that they were anxious to distribute Australian goods with the country of. origin marked on the packages, the delegation would be justified in saying that everything possible must be done to establish decentralisation. Mr. McDougall said: "We will prefer Hull if you will, as far as possible, prefer Australian goods." The delegation afterwards met the grocery and fruit sections of the Chamber of Trade, and discussed details of plans for putting Australian goods into consumption in the North of England.
