Gene Sarazen, the American open golf champion, has signed a two years' contract as professional to the Briarcliff Lodge Country Club, , New . York. His ealary is said to be the largest ever paid to a golf professional in the United States, and he has been insured for "'"0.000 dollars (nominally £20,000) by his new employers. This is said to be the first time a golf club has insured it* r*w fessional. ■ <
It is understood that tho terms of Sarazen's contract permit him to take part in any tours or "tournaments he wishes.
