NORTHCOTE ANNUAL REGATTA
ENTRIES AND HANDICAPS.
The' annual regatta organised by the resident* of Northcots and Birkenhead •will be held to-day. Record entries have been received, : and. in addition to the yacht and launoh races a good programme of side shows will be run 'off from ..a large purft moored in Shoal Bay. The a.a. Kc.wau will act as flagship, and will be anchored off Northcote Point, from which all races " will start and finish. The ketch Rira, and the ecowa Glenae and Scott will act as auxiliary flagships. NOTES AND ' COMMENTS. . • The Takapuna Boating Club was favoured with good sailing breeze for its, harbour races _ last Saturday. The racing : was interesting: and the handicapping vin several of the events was responsible for some close finishes on corrected times. . • lo the raoe ! for the 26ft. mullet boats, the, Awatere secured the first prize by lni • 60s s from Celox, which defeated Starlight for the second prize by lis. The last-named won the third prize by 18s from Starlooh. As usual, Cupid ' led the fleet round the course in - the race for the Y class, and added another win to her < oredit. The receipts from all sources amounted to £ 600 and the expenditure .to £880, leaving • credit balance to date; of £120. The principal items of expenditure were for alterations ?■ and improvements to the club-', house and sooial functions., - The reoeipts included £100 from: members' subscriptions. The membership of the club is ; now 787. v . The Akaranai Yaoht Club has been asked to hold ' harbour races .for .the 18ft. and under classes on Maroh 10. The Victoria Cruising Club is holding a . cruising race ito.Arkles Bay for the larger classes- on ; ' this date, and as the Auckland * Yacht and Motor-boat , Association has allowed the various clubs .to hold any fixture on March 10 they might deoidw upon without clashing it is probable .that the .
