NEARING ITS MAXIMUM.

HORAHORA POWER SCHEME. GOOD PROGRESS WITH EXTENSION. [BY TELEGRAPH, — REPORTER- j HAMILTON, Wednesday. Good progress is being made with the excavations at Horahora. These are required to increase the plant by two units of 2000 kilowatts each. A large amount of earth has been cut away from the east bank, and deep workings are now being carried forward, the spoil being earned away by a flume. The new units will bring the total capacity of the plant (now 6300 kilowatts) to 10.000 kilowatts, or 14.000 horse-power. This will represent the limits of the station, for it will use practically the whole of the water of the river at its minimum level.
