BURNED TO DEATH.
GIRL'If••TERRIBLE' DEATH. HEROIC EFFORTS BY MOTHER. ' A ohockinr burning fatality occurred at the Marshes, 16 miles from St. Helens, on the east coast, writes the Launceston (Tasmania) correspondent of a Sydney papar. The victim was a woman, aged 23, th«> youngest daughter of a well-" known former. She was engaged in burling some scrub about a couple of miles from home when her dress, of soft material, caught fire and she was almost immediately enveloped in flames. Her mother, who was some distance away, heard the girl's shrieks, and rushed up and attempted to tear the clothes off the girl, but her efforts were unsuccessful. \ The whole of the victim's wearing apparel, from the feet to the neck, was burnt. Suffering terrible agony, the girl, with the distracted mother, walked m the trying heat through the scrub to the homestead, the mother practically carrying the daughter. A doctor was summoned immediately from St. Helens. Although he arrived in half an hour by motor, the unfortunate girl succumbed to her terrible injuries a few hours later, after having been conscious all the time. The shock completely .prostrated the mother, who made heroic efforts to get her ' daughter home. .', ' \
