OBITUARY.
DEATH OF OLD COLONIST. MR. JOSEPH WESTHEAD. An old colonist, Mr. Joseph ■ Westfcead, died recently at his residence at Waipipj, near Waiuku, at the , age of 69. viMR'! Westhead arrived at Auckland with \a» parents and one brothor and sister in the ship Matoaka in 11J65. The fairily proceeded to Kohekoho, near ■'WaiSixm. where, they took op farming, In 18$: they went, to " the Thames goidfields, remained there a year, and then returned to Kohekohe. Mr. Westhead, has bm fanning ever since. Ho is survived by' \ Mrs. Westhead. seven suns, three dattghters, 20 grandchildren; and one great grandchild. "/I ' MB. C. E. The death occurred yesterday of ; m early Auckland colonist, Miss Mary Isabella Alexander. Miss Alexander came to ; ; New; Zealand in the ship Devonshire is 1863 with 1 her mother, : : brothers;.! and sisters, all of whom have pre-decsased her. ; : She . had resided in Auckland ever since; her arrival here, and was ? consequently, very well ; v known. ::;V,Her brother, ' Mri Charles Alexander, was a prominent share*broker in Auckland some years ago.
