McCONACHY AT DEVONPORT. The New Zealand billiard champion, Clark McConachy, played Mr. H. .F. Valentine, the ex-amateur champion, at Devonport last evening. McConachy conceded his opponent 450 in 750. The game opened by Valentine putting on a 49 by all-round billiards, McConachy replying with 120 at the fifteenth visit, followed later by 78 off the red. Valentine played very steadily, putting 1 three breaks of over 20 on in succession, the scores standing at 725 against 510 in favour of the amateur. McConachy then got control of the red, and ran out a winner by 25 points. His best breaks were 240, 120. and 98. Valentine's best were 44, 49, 25. 20, 20. . . ' '
