Saturday:' ' There was a; large attendance of. dairy- ; , > men v and their ; friends at ; the Te Aroha ; West Hall 'on Thursday evening for} the • complimentary : tjocial tendered by- the suppliers of the old Waihou Valley Co-opera-live Dairy Company to Mr. John R. ; Nicol, who was secretary ; to the . com--pany during the whole of its : existence, / from' 1914 !to 1921, when the; concern was' absorbed by the New Zealand Dairy 5 . Co., ; " Ltd. Mr. J Frear, chairman of 'directors' .. of the Waihou Valley ? Co. at the time _•' of amalgamation, was called upon to; pre-/ sent Mr. Nicol with a handsome monogrammed and engraved gold watch and chain,' and a substantial wallet containing bank notes. In handing over the tokens Mr. Frear said Mr. Nicol had •' not only been an admirable and idea] secretary but he had always been a .firm friend and helper , to all the shareholders, and indeed to the dairymen'of ;the district. The Waihou Polo Club has decided to hold its annual sports meeting on March" 10 one week after the annual race-meet-: in? here, and a comprehensive programme!, of interesting events has been prepared.
