TURKS AND THE TREATY.
ATTITUDE UNCERTAIN.
DANGERS OF REJECTION.
SHATTERING OF ENTENTE. By Telegraph— Association—Copyright (Received 10 p.m.) A. and N.Z. LONDON, Feb. 4. The keenest interest is manifested whether the Turks -will sign the treaty to-day. Uncertainty prevails in the bestinformed circles at Lausanne regarding Ismet Pasha's intentions, and whether the latest concessions will influence his decision. The Turkish rejection of the treaty would not only embroil Britain and Turkey, but would also shatter the Entente in view of France's readiness to negotiate a separate treaty with Turkey and French resentment at Britain's nonparticipation in her action in the Ruhr.
French newspapers give prominence to telegrams from Constantinople stating that news that the proposed Lausanne Treaty was not in the nature of an ultimatum has created a feeling of relief in Turkey.
